About The Dexel Tyre Company LTD

Dexel Tyres is a family owned and run business and has grown to 13 sites and over 150 employees throughout the years. Founded by Harry France in 1961 (Grandfather) and expanded by Peter France (Father) over the next 25 years, the business is now under the control of Paul France (Son) as Managing Director, assisted by Julie Brunton (his sister and Group Credit Controller). The Company has seen itself double in size again in the last 10 years.

Peter France bought the premises in Staniforth Road, Sheffield in the 1960’s, which is now the location of the Groups Head Office.

Since those early days the company has grown to be the fourth largest independent Tyre Companys in the UK, with a turnover in excess of £13m and car tyre sales of well over 100,000 per year. Over the years it has expanded its operation into Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire with depots in Worksop, Gainsborough, Horncastle, Market Rasen and two in Lincoln.

Further expansion came with opening of the Bradfield Road branch in 1990 and more recently with the purchase of Mr Exhaust and the One Stop Motorist Centre in Sheffield in 1996, Sayers Tyre in Doncaster in 1998 and City Tyre Experts in Lincoln and Market Rasen in 2000. Dock Tyre Co. Ltd, City Tyre Experts and Sayers Tyres have now been re-branded under the Dexel banner.

Autocom Units

Apart from tyres, Dexel also own a motor factoring organisation, which operates under the name of Autocom Units. It supplies replacement parts to the automotive industry, with branches in Sheffield and Gainsborough.

All the branches are staffed by fully trained mechanics and fitters using the latest technology so your car gets the best treatment and level of service whether it’s a Fiat or a Ferrari. The high level of expertise of its staff gives the company a reputation for quality and service second to none – which means that its best ally for securing growth is personal recommendation.

The Company policy is associated with brands of quality such as Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli, Dunlop, Continental, Bridgestone and Firestone. This gives the customer the best choice and value for money.

Although tyres have been the mainstay of the business over the years, in response to changing markets and customer needs, Dexel have expanded their range of products and services available to include brakes, shock absorbers, batteries, exhausts, alloy wheels, MOT testing and vehicle servicing.

A new warehouse now contains stocks of tyres in excess to ensure a rapid service to our customers.

Dexel Tyres has a specialist truck tyre division catering for light and heavy commercial vehicles, plant, agricultural and off-road vehicles. The company belongs to all the major UK network service providers, including the I.T.D.N. (Independent Tyre Distributors Network) providing an emergency out of hours service, ensuring that we are available 24/7 throughout the UK and Europe.

Ever keen to meet customers needs, we have recently launched a mobile car/van tyre fitting service. Special equipment enables fitters to carry out a full range of tyre changing services away from our garage premises at your home or work place. The mobile service is available to individual customers and those with fleets of vehicles. The company also operates a 24-hour emergency breakdown service.

We also offer a while-you-wait service in all of our retail locations, with collection and delivery available by arrangement.
