How Often Should I Service My Car?

How regularly you need a car service will depend on your driving habits and annual mileage. However, except for a very select few vehicles that have a long-life service schedule, 95% of cars and vans should be serviced at least once a year. Indeed, to maintain the warranty protection for your engine from Castrol, it's essential to have your car or van Serviced annually.

Our Bronze Interim Service is a 21-point car service designed for high-mileage vehicles that require more frequent maintenance between annual services. Running a fleet of over 30 vans, averaging 20,000 annual miles each, we understand the importance of these interim services.

All of our vans receive one every 6 months between our Gold full services.

Our bronze interim service includes engine oil renewal, Oil filter renewal and inspections of essential components and systems.

For the main annual service each year, we have two options. Our Silver Full Service is a 40-point annual service that includes engine oil renewal, oil filter renewal, air filter renewal, essential fluid top-ups and for comprehensive inspections than the bronze interim service. Our Gold Major Service is a 54-point annual service that includes engine oil renewal, oil filter renewal, air filter renewal, pollen/cabin filter renewal, essential fluid top-ups, air-con system pressure/functionality check, fuel filter renewal check, spark plug renewal check and our most thorough set of system and component inspections.

Remember that, as well as renewing critical engine parts and lubricants to keep your car running smoothly, a vehicle service is also about preventative maintenance and identifying issues early before they become larger, more costly repairs.

If you need any help or advice for your car servicing in sheffield, we are always on-hand and happy to discuss options over the phone prior to any booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you service my electric vehicle (EV)?

Yes, we can.

Our Sheffield service centres all have EV-trained technicians who are IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) certified to service and repair both electric and hybrid vehicles.

Since electric vehicles don’t have an internal combustion engine, there are fewer components that typically require replacement. As a result, EV servicing is often more affordable than servicing petrol or diesel vehicles. Contact your local branch for details.

Currently, we do not update digital service records by default, as each manufacturer has unique and frequently changing requirements—some of which are chargeable.

We’re working towards offering this across all makes and models. In the meantime, if you require a digital record update, please speak directly with your local servicing branch before booking. Where available, a small fee may apply.

Absolutely.

Each of our Sheffield service garages has technicians who are fully qualified by the IMI to carry out servicing and repairs on hybrid vehicles.

While hybrids require many of the same checks and component replacements as petrol or diesel cars, their high-voltage electrical systems demand additional safety checks. For this reason, hybrid servicing may carry a small additional cost compared to traditional vehicles. Contact your local branch for details.

We ask that you drop your car off first thing in the morning and allow us to keep it for the full day.

Often, your vehicle will be ready sooner and we’ll contact you as soon as it’s complete. However, if we identify any issues during the service, having the full day ensures we can complete most additional repairs on the same day.

Yes.

Both our full and major service and our interim car service include stamping of your service book. However, for privacy reasons, our technicians will not search for it in the vehicle.

To ensure your book is stamped, please leave it clearly visible on the passenger seat when you drop your car off. Once the service is complete, we’ll return it to the same spot for your convenience.
